'PROGRESS' THINK TANK

The Vision of ‘Progress’

ACTIVITIES

i. Research and Analysis

The ‘Progress’ Think Tank Research program is committed to addressing the national, regional and global challenges and issues of the 21st Century including the future state of the world, emerging global strategies, dynamics of globalization and sustainability, global economic scenario, peace and conflict, Inter-State and global terrorism, HIV Aids, population, poverty alleviation, energy and agricultural issues and on the important issue of Inter-Provincial Coordination.

The various research topics are assigned to Think Tank experts and scholars, who specialize in their related specialties. Complete autonomy is afforded to the researchers for carrying out their research and analysis etc. The Think Tank academic faculty have a highly diverse professional background, with a successful career in public administration, journalism, or legal affairs — or as an academic at a university, research institute or public organization. Frequently, they have some type of doctoral degree and are recognized experts in their special fields.

Although a research topic may often take the form of an individual project, teamwork shall actually be more common, usually within the framework of a more extensive research program that may well be interdisciplinary and involve not only the Think Tank’s own experts but also academics and specialists from elsewhere.

The program covers six broad based themes:

  • Peace, Human Rights and Conflict Resolution
  • Defense and Strategic Analysis
  • Poverty Alleviation and Socio-Economic Issues
  • Environment and Sustainable Development
  • Terrorism and Extremism
  • Major Power Relations

The fulfilling of these objectives / functions shall involve a balance between research, analysis and outreach. The range of activities that the ‘Progress’ Think Tank shall engage in would include:

  • Framing policy issues
  • Researching and writing books
  • Articles
  • Policy briefs and monographs
  • Conducting evaluations of government programs
  • Disseminating their research findings and conducting various outreach activities (public testimony before congress, media appearances and speeches)
  • Creating networks and exchanges via workshops, seminars, and briefings
  • Supporting midcareer and senior government officials when they are out of office.

ii. Advocacy / Outreach
