The Vision of ‘Progress’

 

 

OBJECTIVES

 

The ‘Progress’ Think Tank - The Vision of 'Progress' is a multidisciplinary forum. It’s primary function is to help the public and the private sector understand and make informed choices on domestic and international issues and concerns. In addition it plays a number of other critical roles, including:

 

  1. Serve as policy / program consultants.
  2. Offer objective and qualitative public policy, advocacy, analysis and research.
  3. Allow researchers complete freedom.
  4. Digest and formulate research into a form that meets the needs of busy bureaucrats, politicians and policy makers.
  5. Develop strategies that will improve the performance and effectiveness of the policy makers and the public representatives in policy making for the creation of effective dissemination and utilization of policy-relevant proposals.
  6. To create a virtual institution that will foster collaboration, information sharing and the transfer of innovative policies and proposals from one institution or policy community to another.
  7. Promote a constructive dialogue and collaborative research and analysis on policy issues through creating a global and national issue network that build on existing local and regional networks wherever possible.
  8. Identify, test and disseminate strategies and technologies that will facilitate collaborative research and information sharing among public policy research organizations and other policy and knowledge based institutions around the country.
  9. Promote an on-going interdisciplinary national dialogue among think tanks, policy makers and civil society representatives that will explore the critical role that a think tank plays in civil societies and how these institutions can be sustained over time.
  10. Collect data and conduct research on public policy issues and then disseminate the findings to the relevant. Develop and implement strategies that will assist the government in developing and in access to utilization of the internet, resource development and institutional management so that they can participate as equal partners in the nation’s development. 
  11. Playing a mediating function between the government, the public and the international organizations based on transparency, trust, commitment with building of confidence, with partnerships.
  12. Serving as an informed and independent voice in policy debates.
  13. Identifying, articulating, and evaluating current policy issues, proposals and programs.
  14. Transforming ideas and emerging problems into policy issues.
  15. Interpreting issues, events and policies for the electronic and print media thus facilitating public understanding of domestic and international policy issues.
  16. Providing a constructive forum for the exchange of ideas and information between key stakeholders in the policy formulation process.
  17. Facilitating the construction of “issue networks”.
  18. Providing a supply of personnel for the legislative and executive branches of government.
  19. Challenging the conventional wisdom, standard operating procedures and business as usual of bureaucrats and elected officials.
